Project managers refer to a more formal version of this as the "Iron
Triangle": Scope (or Quality), Schedule, and Cost. The point, of course,
is that a change to any of the three necessarily creates a change in one
or both of the others in the same direction--negative for negative,
positive for positive (like THAT ever happens!).
I like the term because "Iron" gets across the concept of "unbreakable."
