If you have a copy of the Sarbanes-Oxley "standard" for systems
documentation, I would love to see it. SOX doesn't tell you how to
document an accounting system, it just requires you to document it.
They're very concerned about change control, security, and
validation/tests.
IEEE standards for documentation used to be in IEEE/EIA Std
12207.0-1996, Software Life Cycle Processes and some other standards.
Try http://ieee.org or http://www.computer.org/. Of course, they make
you pay for anything useful. Also, search for System (or Software)
Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Some people view SDLC like the Napoleonic
Code. I treat it like a guide.
